There is nothing as exciting as waiting on flowers on valentines day. At least that is what my wife tells me. I remember when my dad would bring my mother flowers on this day and my mom would always smile at him and not say a word but hug him. They had that kind of relationship where they just know each other so well that without a word the room was filled with so much love. I knew I wanted that same type relationship when I found my special one. I did find the perfect girl for me and we have almost the same relationship but we are a little more open with our feelings in front of our children. My parents would hold hands and when my dad took her hand she would look up to his face and they would both just smile at each other. It gave us children such a feeling of security knowing how important they were to each other. My children see that same security and they hear it as well. We always are kind to each other so our children will know the right way to treat each other. We know we are role models for marriage just as our parents were for us. I send my wife flowers on Valentine’s Day just as a reminder that I was thinking about her on that special day just as my father did my mother. We have it much easier then our parents did because I can choose the arrangement I want and have it delivered. She knows the flowers will come but she never knows what they will look like. My dad passed away before my mother and one of his instructions for me was to always send my mother flowers on her special days such as her birthday and Valentine’s Day because it means so much. I would put on the card from me and in memory of dad. Even though they are both passed now I bring them both flowers on their birthdays and for Valentine’s Day because it meant so much to them. I know they are looking at each other and smiling still and I also know they are loving the flowers!
